Rant, Rave and Vent About Work...Again

There are now offcially too many outlets where employees can anonymously rate their workplace. With so many factors affecting each person's work expeirence, the information on these boards are only a tiny slice of the pie, not the whole picture.

Getting some of that workplace frustration off your chest can be very theraputic, just be sure to not let the angry exercise become routine.

Last year we put together the Jobacle Master List of Job Vent sites. The latest to come to our attention is Jobeehive. What differentiates the site from the pack is that you must submit information about your employer before February 11, 2009 in order to help determine their overall score for 2008.

Ratings are 100% anonymous. The majority of companies posted are either U.S. or India-based.

Be sure to visit the full list of job rant sites and leave your favorites in the comments section.

I like the fact that you advocate the "No Complaining Rule", yet still provide people with information about where they can go to complain.

It's possible that the prevalence of such sites stems from the fact that a lot of people feel as if they're not being heard when they vent to co-workers or friends and family.

I think it's pointless to complain - which is not to say that I don't indulge in it sometimes. But if you can't do anything about a certain situation, why bother? And if you can do something about a certain situation, why bother to complain? Just do what you have to do and hope for the best.

Thanks for the comment Candice! We're all about giving the employee choice. While personally I don't subscribe to the 'therapeutic benefits of complaining' model, we're more than happy to tell people where to go if they've gotta get something off their chest. If it helps one less person from going postal, we've done our job. ;-)

I can understand anonymous ratings on the job place - let's just use them with restraint and avoid ranting. And it would be great to see more transparency online in general - I pretty much use my full name on everything.

I went through Jobeehive.com and it seems to be executed very well. Its not only about ranting, i see reviews which praise and objectively talk about a work place. the layoff section that jobeehive has added is very thoughtful. I see many laid off people writing about their experiences.
